Five Day Cattle DrivesWe do a spring and a fall cattle drive. In the Spring we gather cattle and drive them to summer pasture there we will brand and work the calves. This is just they way it was done 100 years ago. We have a team of horses pull a chuck wagon and eat outdoors. We stay at the ranch most nights, however there will be at least one night under the stars. This is a ride you will never forget. We limit the number of riders so this is a real cattle drive not a bunch of people and a few cattle. We usually limit the drive to 20 riders. We will be trailing up to 300 head of cattle. We encourage you to bring your own horse. For the horseless we do have several well broke ranch horses for your use. With our wagons and teams we can take those along that would prefer not to get saddle sores or don’t want to ride horses. We keep this as original as possible with meals coming from the chuck wagon. We do get people back to camp to shower and cleanup on a regular basis. This cattle drive starts on the Cheyenne River where we winter our cattle and goes through some of the most beautiful country in the Black Hills on our way to summer pasture. There are very few ranches that still drive cattle so this is an experience that you can tell your grandkids about, better yet bring the grand kids along if you have some. You will arrive Sunday afternoon and will be provided meals and lodging through Saturday morning. Cost for the Cattle Drive is $1500 for double occupancy (when we are at the ranch). Or $2000 for single occupancy. If you bring your own horses and have a self contained trailer we provide full hookups for the same price as double occupancy. |
